Anti-bullying parents information evening.
A big thank you to the parents/carers who attended our anti-bullying parents information evening as part of national anti-bullying week.
We were joined by our School Police Liaison Officer PC Manus as we looked at how we can 'make a noise about bullying'.
The evening looked at how we look to support young people and challenge any incidents of bullying and advice and support on how to stay safe online.
Today we have welcomed a visit from Character First & the Challenge
Trust to the school as we kicked off our community school partnership. This included an inspirational visit from guest speaker Dr Niall McCann & a community extra curricular club fair.
Local clubs and providers showcased what they are offering pupils outside of school in the evenings, weekends and during school holidays for young people.
RNLI Wicked Wales Film | Viva LGBT | Llandudno Museum | TKD
Tigers | Rhyl Rugby Club & Sparkles Morris Dancing group all attended
Character-First also had a stand in order to gain pupil voice regarding the trips and experiences being offered which will be used to develop the opportunities offered at the school.
Students listened to an amazing talk by Dr Niall McCann, an explorer and biologist.
Niall's high-energy presentations covered a diversity of topics including life at the extremes, coping with risk, building a career around your passions, leading expeditions in challenging environments, exploring the world's natural wonders, protecting the planet, and excelling in STEM.
We really hope that your child enjoyed the day and is inspired after listening to Niall as well as excited about joining a club or group in the local area.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Return to school – Clinically vulnerable children
WG guidance states that ‘clinically vulnerable’ individuals are at greater than average risk from COVID-19. The guidance says that people in this category can go out to school but they should stay home if possible. Children that fall into this category are as follows:
chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or bronchitis
chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
chronic kidney disease
chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis
chronic neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), a learning disability or cerebral palsy
diabetes
problems with your spleen – for example, sickle cell disease or if you have had your spleen removed
a weakened immune system as the result of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, or medicines such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy
being seriously overweight (a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above)
Those who are pregnant
We understand that the Welsh Government advice is that any child that falls into the above categories should be practicing stringent social distancing and are not expected to attend school. However, if your child does fall into the above and you intend for your child to return to school, please contact the school either via the school office between 8am and 4pm( Monday to Friday) or by e mailing concerns@rhylhigh.co.uk. You will also be required to complete and return the attached in advance of your child returning.
Many thanks in advance for your support and cooperation,
Yours Sincerely,
