ICT Business
Department Staff
Mr Danny Lay
About the Department
Business students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the modern-day workplace ie business administration, marketing, finance, human resources, sales and customer service.
As a further option they are also encouraged to consider the procedures involved in planning and setting up their own mini business-enterprise.
We offer a Level 2 qualification for learners aged 14 and over, ie Years 10 and 11.
All units are internally assessed using assignments built on grading criteria.
There is also a clear progression route to a Level 3 course in further education or to apprenticeship schemes.
Curriculum Structure
BTEC Business Level 2 is a vocationally related qualification, where students develop knowledge and understanding by applying their learning in a work-related context.
The term ‘business’ can cover anything from a sole trader in a local market to a multinational corporation selling products or providing services to millions of people all over the world.
We explore what businesses do, trends that affect them and explore different types of business ownership.
There is also opportunity to plan for a realistic business start-up in the local area, based upon research and presentation of a business plan.
