Student Council / Pupil Voice and Participation

At Rhyl High School, we are very proud of and value the contributions that our pupils make, the ideas that they have and the changes that they bring about.

Every September, to support Pupil Voice and Participation, a group of our pupils are elected, by their peers, to join our School Council. Then, for the following academic year, this group share our pupil views and they are key to the continual development of our school.

Members of our Student Council, under the supervision of Mrs Dingle, develop their leadership and problem-solving skills; develop the skills needed to work as an effective team; learn about the democratic process and their civic responsibility.

Our School Council key roles include a Chair, Vice-chair and two secretaries. These roles meet monthly with our Whole School Council and also with our sub groups and identified members of staff.

For the academic year 2024-2025, to help us to continue to recover and grow together to become our Academic best and Resilient best - socially emotionally and behaviourally our subgroups will include an,

Academic Group

Social Group

Well-being Group

Behaviour Group.

The School Council will continue to make sure that its work is shared with staff and pupils via our School Council Noticeboard and with the wider school community in our termly School Newsletter. Every September, we will also continue to share whole school, the main changes that our School Council have brought about and the developments that they have made.
